What: Our Worship Gatherings are an important gathering practice for Common Life. We corporately celebrate what God is up to in the neighbourhood and yet also find there are times where we need to share that which grieves us. We listen to one another over coffee, sing together, tell stories, pray together, and spend time together in Scripture.
Children: Children play an important role on Sundays as they participate in most of the service, including the beginning of our teaching time that incorporates an appropriate message for children.

Common Formation
Our missional communities tend to be formed around where their members live, though there is lots of room for flexibility. Missional communities meet once a week and cycle through a variety of corporate practices. An average month sees the first two weeks centre around learning new skills or developing existing ones, reflecting on how we are doing with these skills during the week, telling stories of what God is up to in our neighbourhoods, and learning more about ourselves and one another. The third week we pray together for our neighbourhoods and the fourth week we meet for a women’s night and a men’s night. Occasionally we will take a break from our usual cycle and do a book study or special activity together.
Spiritual Formation of Children
Common Life views children as full members and participants in our life together as a church. We believe the primary responsibility of discipling children falls to parents; however, we also encourage our parents to disciple their children within the context of our local church community so that the church is secondarily responsible for discipling children. As we model Gathered after the pattern of an extended family, every adult member of Common Life plays the role of an uncle, aunt, grandmother, or grandfather in helping parents raise their children in the way of Christ.
What does this look like? During our worship gatherings, Children participate in singing, sharing stories, welcoming others, taking the Lord’s Supper, and learning from God’s Word during the first part of our teaching time (taught at an elementary school-aged level). Throughout the week, we follow our children into the neighbourhood as they go to school, play sports, participate in clubs, and play with their friends and neighbours. Our children are missionaries and leaders in training, just as we are as adults. We include them in age appropriate experiences throughout the year that include learning, peacemaking, serving, reflection, or discernment. We often find our children to be just as involved in God’s ministry of reconciliation in our neighbourhoods as the adults are; sometimes even more so!
